  • Cat or Kitten with "WET" FIP (feline infectious peritonitis)

WET FIP   (Symptoms of fluid in stomach swelling or chest).Besides having your Vet drain excess fluids initially as often as needed, (you will notice breathing becomes more labored). We aim to prevent this with formula 3 a natural homeopathic "HAMPL Diuretic drops"  a natural diuretic.

Important to replace the - Loss of Fluids.
Initially, you may need to get fluids drained, so they feel better and able to eat. We MUST also replace the loss of vital fluids by doing Sub-Q fluids at home. This is done after the Vet has drained fluids from cavities in the body - either at home or ask the Vet to do it.

(AN108)   SubQ fluid Set  ($30AUD)  Home therapy
    1.  Several very small butterfly needles
    2.  2 x 30ml or 40ml syringes
    3.  1 x 1-liter Bag of plain saline solution (Hartman's or Ringers Lactate)
Takes 5 minutes to gently syringe 80ml of warm fluid just under the skin (lift the skin and make a pocket)

There are 3 types of FIP conditions.

"Dry FIP" or  "Wet FIP"   with or without  "Seizures"  or  "weakness type paralysis"

This condition is related to - either to toxicity (vaccination shock) or to a breakdown of natural fatty acid barriers. Toxicity can be greatly helped by taking high doses of anti-oxidants. Most often your feline is probably suffering from toxicity i.e. heavy metal (vaccines and worming drugs etc) As this virus which is an autoimmune condition comes on after the kitty vaccinations.

The less common form of FIP is the "DRY FIP" (no fluid build up)  If your cat has this then please order AN183 (B) DRY FIP treatment formulas.

    NEUROLOGICAL Symptoms (nerves system)

in FIP kittens your cat or kitten also has any nervousness, twitching (neurological) symptoms of ... seizure, spine nerve paralysis, or weakness in general. Use the below remedies to prevent or support from seizure activities.symptoms and treating - muscle spasms, locomotor ataxia, weakness, jerking twitching, stiffness, rheumatism,  bladder – urinating issues, lumbar, spine, pulmonary heart valve, brain – paralysis, spine and brain stem, seizure, spine nerve paralysis.

Also, make sure your baby is getting the Mineral Magnesium liquid in daily meals twice a day. And other suggested brain remedies.

    Immune System
Stress will cause many illnesses to develop, due to depletion of nutrition which then affects the immune system. As the protocol is to inject live virus of the disease, and if a kitten is over stressed, then the immune system locks down in shock and is unable to naturally fight off the live virus of the disease. Thus infection progresses. Coronavirus and FIP virus cats and kittens we highly recommended to work on repairing the immune system. Ways to avoid further stress is preventing over vaccination shocks, chemical drugs worming poisons, junk foods, and young children miss handling them. As some felines can be carriers of the virus, as they are injected with the virus when they get a vaccination.

FIP is caused by a coronavirus, that has mutated from a harmless intestinal virus of cats called the feline enteric coronavirus (FECV). It is not known why the virus mutates from the harmless FECV (it can cause a mild intestinal upset) to the pathogenic FIP. Risk factors for this disease are multiple cat households, the presence of normal cats that shed coronavirus, age, immune status, and the development of FIP susceptible cats under prolonged stress.   Any cat infected with a coronavirus has the potential of developing FIP, in fact, recent studies suggest up to 10% of cats infected with the coronavirus may develop FIP. To give you some perspective on the current situation, 30% of household cats and up to 90% of cattery cats carry the coronavirus.

Any cat or kitten that has an underdeveloped or weak immune system can be more susceptible due to increased stress, form many factors ... over vaccinations, or vaccinating when a kittens immune system has not yet fully develop (weak immune), and other infections like the FeLV and the FIV. Cats can spread the coronavirus in their nasal and oral secretions, along with the feces.

Treatment with GS-441254 has roughly an 85% complete cure rate, and it appears that the treatment is most successful if you start early.

It's expensive to treat. There's no way around that.

The gold-standard is daily injections--they are very unpleasant for your cat--and the dose is weight-dependent.

Generally speaking you want 6mg/kg for effusive FIP ('wet' FIP; fluid builds up in the chest and abdomen), and 8-10mg/kg for non-effusive FIP ('dry' FIP, ocular and neurological), for 84 days.

Typical concentration is 15mg/ml, and vials are 5-6ml , so for a 10# cat with effusive FIP, you'd need 1.9ml injections daily. Vials of GS-441254 can cost $75-125 ea.--depending on brand--so it would cost $30-50/day (again, for a 10# cat; it would be more for a heavier cat, less for a lighter cat), or $2520-4200 total.

Pills will typically cost 2-3x as much as injections, and are not as effective for treating non-effusive FIP due to the way medication at high doses is absorbed through the gut.

However, pills are *much* easier to administer, and much less unpleasant for your cat.

Although, if you have a Abyssinian, pills might be a real challenge; they tend to be very strong-willed.

There are multiple 'brands' out there (everything is strictly black market, since Gilead Pharma holds the patent on GS-441254, and isn't licensing it for veterinary treatments); I'm using a brand that a person I personally know has used to treat cats. It's not one of the recommended brands for this group, but our kitten's 5 week bloodwork is all normal.

    If giving INJECTIONS

Here is one persons suggestion and experience

~  Buy needles through Tractor Supply or  through Revival Animal Health online.
Can use 21 or 22 gauge.

~  First , the lower flank is not a recommended area for injections painful for cats   ( the may resist area ) because it's painful the X areas are not good to use ( see diagram and rotate numbers and write them down 1 do not come within 1" of any previous injection or sore !!! Rotating is critical!

    * The scruff is not recommended for these injections, low absorption / acidic , sarcomas , spinal injury due to tenting skin .. it is not the best place period , regardless of skill level, for this particular composition of medication.

.... so I had to give 3 injections a day of Mutian for a rare stubborn mutation .. over 130 injections in 55 days .. resulted in only one tiny sore ( my vet was amazed ) my cat is now clinically cured ! here was my process to protect skin integrity and minimize trauma:

This diagram is the best places for a sub Q type injection !

Not on the spine, not on the neck and not on the hind quarters ! injection site sores are not unusual... but can and should be minimized !   .... the meds are acidic, if it gets on the skin it will create a sore.

I used two little squirt bottles , one filled with bottled water and a few drops of blue dawn dish washing liquid ( it neutralizes the acid ) and one with plain bottled water .

Immediately after injection squirt with dawn one , wash it and rinse with clear water squirt bottle .

Blot dry with towel and put on a clean cotton t- shirt ( find them in tiny dog section at petsmart ) .

Jot down a record of where you gave the injection so that you do not come within 1 inch of it for the next shot or two or three to give it time to heal.

Try never to go back into the injection site and never inject into a sore ! That's painful !!!

I had to give my cat up to 3 injections a day for 55 days  .. ( he had a rare difficult mutation ) I think to date mine is the only cat to have had 3 injections a day !

I gave them all .  .. after over 130 injections I only had one tiny sore by doing all of this !  ( my vet was amazed !)

Also do not inject into a lump.. and I always lightly massaged the area I decided to use before hand . And every day use thumb and forefinger to roll the little lumps lightly to try to break them up - can be done watching tv .. just be careful not to touch a sore !

Be sure you are tenting the skin - hold needle at a 45 degree angle ... for better control - I hold the needle steady with bevel up , and draw the tented skin into the needle / this offers better control - and prevents you from putting needle in too far - you will feel it go in and it just needs to be in past the bevel.

Then be very quick with the washing steps above.  The dawn liquid water mixture neutralizes the acid , helps with lessening the burn .

We clean the area after every injection with alcohol prep pads and that has helped us.

    Meet with GMP Standard.

    • Doses and regimen used in the FIP study:  MUTIAN is given orally, 100mg/kg/day.
    • MUTIAN works best on an empty stomach and drink plenty of water after medicine.
    • FIP is well known to involve both the eyes and CNS. In order to allow more MUTIAN to penetrates the blood/brain and blood/eye barriers when a cat has neurological symptoms, it is recommended to take a double dose.
    • Total 84 days with Capsules.

    FAQs

How long will my cat need to take these supplements?

The dosing is between 12 weeks depending on your cat. Lab results will be considered to make the determination for FIP along with your cat’s AG ratio. You want to see the AG ratio above 0.7 for two different lab results.

How many supplements should I give my cat?

The dosing for non-neuro and no ocular symptoms cats is 100mg/kg per day. For ocular symptoms,  150mg/kg per day. For neuro symptoms, it is 200mg/kg per day.

Can I feed my cat before giving my cat the pills?

Withhold food from your cat from one hour before you give the capsules to 30 minutes after you give the capsules.

How do I get my cat to take these pills?

    • Homeopathic GRANULES (white grain) and a small light sprinkle or a pinch to meals, or stir into water trough or bowl.
Casual repeat dosing can add to water bowl or feed dish or water trough for wildlife or farm animals.

Refer to Bottle Label for suggested frequencies repeat dosing needed per day.
    NOTE:
the rule is one must “repeat a dose” more frequently with less time in between each application dose, which is more important than the amount given each time. Repeat application will provide

faster action.

    HERBAL MEDICINES

    (b) “HERBAL MEDICINES ” (brown liquid – strong odour & tasting)
”Application dosing” for all species and sizes:
Canine, equine, cow, sheep, goat : add herbal drops (as recommended on bottle label) to some (unsweetened apple sauce or apple juice) for canines and oral syringe side of mouth. Can add other vitamins (crushed) Alkaline green powders etc. to mix.

Refer to Bottle Label for amount of drops per species size. e.g 60 drops = 1 teaspoon

What I do for example: If I was needing to give herb treatments and/or vitamin supplements to feline or toy dog or other small animals – I add this herbal formula to a small bowl add some boiled water (about a teaspoon) to it so to dissolve the alcohol in it, let cool, then add what vitamins If needed (powder or crushed tab – a pinch) mixed in another 50ml of water, and oral syringe once a day or twice a day …smear on a little “vegemite paste” (if cannot get Vegemite in your country, try fresh pate or slippery elm powder added can help mask the taste) around and on tip of oral syringe, as felines seem to real like the taste of this paste, but not too much as it is quite a strong taste)

    NUTRITION

    (c)“NUTRITIONAL Mix
”
Giving vitamins and supplements (tablets or powders) Note: always crush tablet before adding to food or liquid mix.
Felines or small animals: make up 1 cup of mixture, adding approx. a pinch of some type of Green powder (alkaline powder) or Chlorella powder (cleansing of toxins) or 1/4 Teaspoons of Slippery elm powder (to mask the taste) with 1 teaspoon of herbs if you are having to also give herbal medicines (i.e. brown liquid)
Med to large animals: add twice to three times the amount.

DOSING: Feline or small animal: using an oral syringe draw up 1ml and gently small sips. Or add a teaspoon to meals if they don’t mind eating it with meals (mix well into food) Do not put in Fridge. Room temp is best as too cold is dislike by felines.
DOSING: Canine, equine, cow, sheep, goat: try mixing well into food and hand piece before feeding main meals. Or dose same as suggested for felines, but add three times as much herbal medicines and vitamins to 1/2 cup of water or (unsweetened) apple sauce or apple juice.

What I do for example: If i was needing to give herb treatments and/or vitamin supplements to feline or toy dog or other small animals – I add this herbal formula to 1/2 cup of boiled hot water to it so to dissolve the alcohol in it, let cool, then add what vitamins If needed (powder or crushed tab – a pinch) mixed in another 50ml of water, and oral syringe once a day or twice a day …. smear on a little “vegemite paste” (if cannot get Vegemite in your country, try fresh pate or slippery elm powder added can help mask the taste) around and on tip of oral syringe, as felines seem to real like the taste of this paste, but not too much as it is quite a strong taste)

    Slippery Elm Powder

If needing to add or use Slippery Elm powder

FOR CONDITIONS like …. diarrhea, stomach ulcers, or sore inflamed mouth or mouth ulcers, constipation, or IBS (i.e. colitis), plus it can also been given as a liquid meal given orally via syringe as it is highly nutritional (oral liquid feeding) for convalescing during illness when not eating solids.

CONVALESCING ..can been given as a liquid meal given orally via syringe as it is highly nutritional (oral liquid feeding) for convalescing during illness when not eating solids or not eating very well.
~ Add a small amount of powder to the mix to enough to make a runny liquid mix, if you put too much of the powder it will become thick and gluggy, if this happens you will need to add more liquid to it. Can add crushed vitamins and herbal medicines to this as well. OPTIONS: Oral dose in syringe or add to meals three times a day or more to maintain normal health again, then can stop or reduce frequencies.

      I would recommend this product

I would recommend this product and I would also say to start when the cat begins to show symptoms. The earlier the better chance you have of saving their life! Follow the instructions carefully to get the best results.

      Excellent products

I had a cat with Dry FIP and thanks to your remedies she lived another 8 years, in the US she would have normally only survived 3 months if that.

The cat we placed on these products is feeling much better.

The cat we placed on these products is feeling much better. Her energy and spirit have improved. She is not gaining weight and I do not think this will cure her but in 2 weeks she has become a happier cat and that is more than we had hoped for. We are in rescue and have had many cats die from this disease. Tabitha is still with us so that makes us happy and she is playing. Time will tell and we will not give up. I would recommend trying this product.
