Inherited or acquired elevated cholesterol levels (also called hyperlipidemia), arrhythmia, angina, atherosclerosis ?

Use the Herbal Heart Tonic 73 helps resolve high cholesterol, in conjunction with the homeopathic Liver detox 36 drops.
As research indicates that the herb Hawthorn Berry (which is the Heart Tonic 73) is beneficial in treating  elevated cholesterol levels, arrhythmia, angina, atherosclerosis, and plaque build up in arteries.

* If also has arhythmia, add the mineral Magnesium as this deficiency is the cause of this condition.

Fluid Build up?

Homeopathic DuraAid 23 drops can take place of the Furosemide drug, ideally, we recommend you work with your vet to reduce/cease this drug (mainly due to side effects it has on health), which is generally not necessary once the homeopathic Dura Aid 23 50ml drops take effect.

If you are not happy consulting your vet, perhaps reduce to once a day concurrent with the DuraAid 23 50ml drops, for several days, and see how your cat responds. You can then maybe reduce to every 2nd or 3rd day etc.  We often see the homeopathic diuretic work more effectively than the chemical one prescribed by vet.

See the download pdf HELP SHEET for further help and information.

“Atherosclerosis” or  “Arteriosclerosis”  Heart  (Cardiovascular) symptoms
~ Plaque “build up” in your arteries (Atherosclerosis)
Atherosclerosis symptoms can causes plaque to clog and narrow your arteries over time.   As the innermost layer of the blood vessels (endothelium) is constricted by the deposition of fat, calcium and cellular debris. Atherosclerosis leads to the narrowing of the artery, which in turn reduces the flow of blood passing through it. The reduced blood flow results in a depletion of the amount of oxygen and nutrients reaching the affected part of the body.  *Suggest –  Magnesium 284 (mineral) to balance remove calcium (plaque) from arteries, in conjunction with AN022 Set of 3  or  if no symptoms can just use the Herbal Mix  AN073 Heart Tonic *dissolving plaque build up herbs.

~ Coronary artery (Arteriosclerosis)
Arteriosclerosis is a broader term for the condition in which the arteries narrow and harden, leading to poor circulation of blood throughout the body. Atherosclerosis is a specific kind of arteriosclerosis, but these terms are often used interchangeably.*Suggest –  Magnesium 284 (mineral) to prevent plaque build up, in conjunction with HAMPL Circulation & Heart Balance 266-3 formula..  But if patient has symptoms of breathing, fainting, lethargic etc symptoms … also see AN022-1 Congestive Heart Failure 22-1 formula.

* Both conditions lead to decreased blood flow to other parts of the body.

Warnings    Watch of for serious “Side Effects”  of HEART DRUGS

Cardsure (vetmedin) Drug?

Common Side Effects of the VETMEDIN drug.
The most commonly reported side effects of  VETMEDIN were poor appetite, lethargy, diarrhea, dyspnea, azotemia, weakness, and ataxia.
The prevalence of side effects was similar in the active control group (enalapril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme [ACE] inhibitor).

Cardisure is a tablet that contains:
“Active ingredient”  Pimobendan * which is used in the control of heart conditions in dogs.
Cardisure is manufactured by Eurovet Animal Health Limited. Cardisure comes as round, brown tablets in several different sizes so that different sized animals can be dosed accurately.
The tablets can be scored and divided. Cardisure is a POM-V (Prescription Only Medication) which means it can only be obtained from the vet who is looking after your pet or with a prescription from them.

Pimobendan* (Vetmedin also called Cardisure) is a “commonly prescribed” as a heart medication used by veterinarians.
Pimobendan is a drug used for dogs to increase their heart’s pumping ability, which is usually given to dogs with certain kinds of heart disease. Some of these are congestive heart failure (CHF), dilated cardiomyopathy, and mitral valve insufficiency.  It is an inotrope used for congestive heart disease and heart failure in dogs. Pimobendan works by slowing the function of phosphodiesterase enzymes that open the blood vessels and makes the proteins in the heart more sensitive to calcium, which helps it to contract more effectively. It is usually given with other medications like digoxin and ACE inhibitors. Because this medication has been made to taste good to your dog, and it comes in chewable tablets, a toxic dosage of pimobendan is possible if your dog has access.

Pimobendan (Vetmedin) is a commonly prescribed heart medication used by veterinarians.
In some cases, pimobendan has been known to cause rapid heart rate, vomiting, diarrhea, nervousness, collapse, convulsions, and possibly death if not treated right away. In addition, if given to a dog without a heart condition, the effects can be life-threatening immediately. This type of drug toxicity can be mistaken for other illnesses, such as a virus, and may be overlooked until it is too late. That is why it is important to see your veterinarian right away if you even suspect that your dog has ingested pimobendan. There are two types of pimobendan poisoning, which are acute (taking a large dose causing immediate toxicosis) or chronic (taking small amounts on a regular basis, causing a gradual toxicosis).

Symptoms of Pimobendan Poisoning in Dogs

Your dog may not show any signs of toxicity right away, and some of the mild symptoms, such as stomach upset and weakness, may be overlooked as a virus or anxiety. However, if your dog has gotten into the medication, you are likely to notice that the bottle or blister pack the pills came in are on the floor or chewed on. Anytime you think your dog may have ingested a medication of any kind; it is vital that you call your veterinarian or get your dog to a pet hospital or clinic. Some of the most commonly reported symptoms are:

  • Allergic reaction (breathing difficulty, hives)
  • Collapse
  • Cough
  • Coughing
  • Dark sticky stool (melena)
  • Dehydration
  • Depression
  • Diarrhea
  • Elevated heart rate
  • Fainting (syncope)
  • Fluid accumulation in the lungs and/or abdomen (ascites)
  • Gagging
  • Heart murmur
  • Increased respiratory rate
  • Increased thirst and urination
  • Irregular pulse
  • Itchy skin (pruritus)
  • Lethargy
  • Loss of appetite
  • Loss of bodily movements (ataxia)
  • Low blood pressure
  • Restlessness
  • Seizures
  • Shaking
  • Staggering
  • Sudden death
  • Trembling
  • Urinary accidents
  • Vomiting
  • Weak pulse
  • Weakness
  • Weight loss

  • Acute pimobendan poisoning is caused by an ingestion of a large amount of the drug at once (such as with accidental overdose or if your dog gets into the medication
  • Chronic pimobendan poisoning is caused by a small amount given on a regular basis.

Other Drugs Often prescribed for –  Tachycardia, hypertension, myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias ( which can be corrected with Magnesium), coronary artery disease, hyperthyroidism, essential tremor, aortic dissection, portal hypertension, glaucoma,  and other conditions.

Beta-Blockers Drug

Beta-blockers, as a class of drugs, are primarily used to treat cardiovascular diseases and other conditions. Beta-blockers are used when symptoms of –  tachycardia, hypertension, myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias ( which can be corrected with Magnesium), coronary artery disease, hyperthyroidism, essential tremor, aortic dissection, portal hypertension, glaucoma,  and other conditions.

Beta Blockers – Adverse Side Effects
Beta receptors are found all over the body and induce a broad range of physiologic effects.
The blockade of these receptors with beta-blocker medications can lead to many adverse effects.
Example – Bradycardia and hypotension are two adverse effects that may commonly occur. Fatigue, Dizziness, Nausea, and Constipation are also widely reported.  Also bronchospasm presents in patients on beta-blockers. Asthmatic patients are at a higher risk.
Beta-blockers can induce hyperglycemia and mask the hemodynamic signs, usually seen in a hypoglycemic patient, such as tachycardia.  Reports of insomnia, sleep changes, and nightmares while using beta-blockers.
This effect is more pronounced with beta-blockers that cross the blood-brain barrier.
Carvedilol may increase edema in some pets.
Sotalol blocks the potassium channels in the heart and thereby induces QT prolongation. It increases the risk of torsades de pointes.

All beta-blockers, especially in pets with cardiac risk factors, carry a risk of heart block (fatal).

Common side effects of the UREX drug.
Symptoms of overdose may include weakness, dizziness, lethargy, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, sweating, mental confusion, blurred vision, tingling in the arms or legs, restlessness, headache, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), cramping,   constipation, and symptoms associated with electrolyte and fluid depletion. The active ingredient in Urex is called frusemide which belongs to a group of medicines called diuretics.  Diuretics are used to help the kidneys remove excess fluid from the body. Urex is used to treat a number of medical conditions, including edema (swelling of the body due to excess fluid).

Enalapril Maleate Drug
Enalapril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that is commonly prescribed by veterinarians for the treatment of high blood pressure in cats and dogs. Treatment of patients with congestive heart failure by helping to maintain normal blood pressure.  Sometimes, it is used to treat a ventricle disorder which comes in the way of the heart’s ability to pump blood to the body. It can also be used in conjunction with other medications for the treatment of mild to severe heart failure.

Medicinal Herbal Uses
Ginkgo Biloba Herb
Our herbal formula combines the peripheral – circulation – building benefits of ginkgo with the heart – strengthening and stabilizing properties of hawthorn into one for maximum circulatory support.
Research indicates that the herb ginkgo’s circulatory – system benefits may result from this special ability.  Randomized, double-blind clinical studies using standardized hawthorn berry extract show that hawthorn appears to increase the efficiency of nerve impulses in, and protect against oxygen deprivation of, the heart muscle.
The research team concluded that “Ginkgo biloba” is a potential therapeutic treatment for preventing atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis happens when your artery walls progressively get thicker and harder as a result of fatty deposits. High levels of bad cholesterol contribute to the disease, as do smoking and diabetes. Atherosclerosis is largely responsible for angina, heart attacks, and strokes. Get your doctor’s advice about having your cholesterol levels checked and consider taking ginkgo to keep your arteries free from harmful fatty deposits.
Also, controlled study and found that hawthorn extract can improve heart function in patients suffering from chronic heart disease. These Hawthorn patients also reported fewer overall symptoms, less fatigue and less shortness of breath.

Cayenne Herb
(Capsicum Annuum) Capsicum is an herb, and the fruit of the capsicum plant is used to make medicine.
Capsicum increases metabolism by immediately influencing the venous structure. It is remarkable with its immediate effects on the circulatory system as it feeds the vital elements into the cell structure of capillaries, veins, arteries and helps adjust blood pressure to normal levels. Yes, cayenne pepper for high blood pressure is certainly one of its core uses, but it cleans the arteries as well.It also stimulates the peristaltic motion of the intestines and aids in assimilation and elimination. When taken internally, it warms the body and has even been used by some herbalist doctors to help severe frostbite as cayenne not only facilitates the healing of the flesh but it helps rebuild tissue as well. Notwithstanding its hot taste, it is superb for rebuilding the tissue in the stomach for it actually facilitates rapid healing with stomach and intestinal ulcers. Capsicum for ulcers is not something most would have considered due to its native calidity but the author can testify to this aspect of this wonder herb.
Cayenne Can Stop Heart Attack

Capsaicin is a resin-like compound that is known for its thermogenic properties – which means it increases body temperature and is perhaps the greatest natural stimulant known. It does not cause jitters, palpitations, increase in blood pressure and hyperactivity that most conventional stimulants cause.
One of the most notable recognition that cayenne gained has been its ability to stop a stroke or heart attack.
Dr. Christopher testified,
‘In 35 years of practice, and working with the people and teaching, I have never on house calls lost one heart attack patient and the reason is, whenever I go in–if they are still breathing–I pour down them a cup of cayenne tea (a teaspoon of cayenne in a cup of hot water, and within minutes they are up and around)’.
Dr. Richard Anderson, the author of ‘Cleanse and Purify Thyself’ told that one of his friend doctor rushed to the parking lot to rescue a man who had a heart attack inside his car. The doctor administered cayenne tincture directly to the victim’s mouth and after several minutes, his heart started beating again. The capsaicin in cayenne pepper is unparalleled in its ability to reignite the heart and boost circulation. It has an exceptional ability to improve cardiovascular performance while lowering blood pressure.
Dr. Christopher told that cayenne tea, which is simply a cup of hot water added with one teaspoon cayenne powder, is one of the fastest-acting aids that you can feed the heart in case of heart attack. The warm tea works faster than capsules, tablets or cold tea because the heat opens up the cells, making them expand so cayenne can reach the heart faster.
Cayenne pepper is a popular anti-inflammatory herb. Chronic inflammation affects majority of the population because of environmental toxins, poor diet, chronic elevation of cortisol or stress hormone and other factors. The active component capsaicin present in cayenne pepper may help reduce the effect or prevent atherosclerosis or clogged arteries by regulating inflammation. Chronic inflammation triggers and pushes the development of atherosclerosis by encouraging fatty deposits in the arteries.
A 2013 study revealed that capsaicin prevents mast cells – inflammatory cells that have been found to be highly prominent in many inflammatory diseases such as asthma and allergies. Hence, taking plenty of cayenne pepper can be an effective way to reduce inflammation of the body. Also, cayenne pepper is rich in Vitamin A, which helps in reducing inflammation with its antioxidant effect. This herb is a potent antioxidant that may help reduce oxidative damaged from free radicals. Such damage is one of the top causes of inflammation.
How Chronic Inflammation Causes Atherosclerosis and Blood Clots
How exactly inflammation plays a role in stroke and heart attack remains a hot topic of ongoing research. Although it’s not proven that chronic inflammation causes heart disease, inflammation is very common in stroke and heart disease patients and is believed to be an atherogenic response.

Burdock Root herb – contains good amounts of electrolyte potassium (308 mg or 6.5% of daily required levels per 100 g root) and low in sodium. Potassium is an important component of cell and body fluids that helps control heart rate and blood pressure. This herb root contains small quantities of many vital vitamins. Burdock also purifies the blood. Burdock is also used for high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries (arteriosclerosis), and liver disease.

Red clover herb
 – is a source of many nutrients including calcium, chromium, magnesium, niacin, phosphorus, potassium, thiamine, and vitamin Cardiovascular – Researchers theorize that red clover might help protect against heart disease, with stronger, more flexible arteries (called arterial compliance), which can help prevent heart disease. Red clover may also have blood-thinning properties, which keeps blood clots from forming. It appears to improve blood flow.

Hawthorn Berries herb
 – has a long history of use for treating heart disease. Hawthorn can be used in cardiomyopathy to improve heart function associated with congestive heart failure and relieve angina, or chest pain. A 2011 report published in “Planta Medica” states hawthorn extract is an effective treatment for mild congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, and atherosclerosis. Hawthorn may also lower blood pressure. Cardiomyopathy can be associated with congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, and Atherosclerosis (plaque) that leads to development of a clot, or hardening of the arteries.

Coleus herb – Standardized extract of coleus containing forskolin can be used to treat cardiomyopathy. Forskolin may improve heart function in congestive heart failure and cardiomyopathy by increasing the force of the heart’s contraction, dilating coronary arteries and lowering blood pressure without increasing your heart’s need for oxygen.

Dan Shen Herb –   a Powerful Cardiovascular Chinese Herb
Dan She improves CHD markers –  In one randomized, placebo-controlled human study, Dan Shen was able to improve a number of blood markers that pertain to cardiovascular disease in a group of participants with an active coronary heart disease (CHD) diagnosis. The active group of 63 participants received 270mg of Dan Shen three times per day over a three month period, whereas an equal number of subjects in the placebo group took placebo three times per day.    At the conclusion of the study, the active group experienced reductions in the following makers: triglycerides, total cholesterol, LDL, Lp(a), gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT), direct bilirubin, uric acid and homocysteine. Dan Shen also increased levels of HDL, ApoA, ApoB, ApoE, total bilirubin and indirect bilirubin. The authors conclude that Dan Shen is able to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease by improving markers related to CHD (12).

Myocardial infarction –   A rat study evaluated the protective effects of Dan Shen in myocardial ishemia-induced rats. After administering Dan Shen, researchers measured the size of the myocardial infarction as well as inflammatory markers and the activity of anti-oxidative enzymes. They found that Dan Shen reduced the infarction and several inflammatory markers, including C-reactive protein, IL-6, tumor necrosis factor-alpha and malondialdehyde. It also increased the activities of superoxide dismutase and serum levels of glutathione. The authors conclude that Dan Shen provides significant cardioprotective benefits against acute ischemic myocardial injury in rats and speculate that the benefits may lie in its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties (13).

Stroke prevention  – A human study evaluated the ability of Dan Shen dripping pills to protect against secondary stroke occurrence in a group of 106 participants who had suffered from ischemic stroke or a transient ischemic attack (TIA) within the last 20 days. The patients were divided roughly in half into active and placebo groups and monitored over the course of one year. During that time period, incidence of recurrent stroke and TIA were lower in the active group  than in placebo (9.6% vs 24.1). In addition, blood C-reactive protein levels decreased significantly in the active group participants as compared to placebo. The authors conclude that Dan Shen treatment may reduce the risk of stroke and TIA recurrence, which they attribute to the anti-inflammatory effects of the herb (14).

Mechanisms of action

The biological actions of these substances have been elucidated over the last several years, and several mechanisms have been proposed for the cardioprotective effects of this plant, including:

  • Anti-inflammatory (5)
  • Anti-oxidation (6) (7)
  • Anti-thrombosis (8)
  • Anti-proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells
  • Inhibitory of the expression of adhesion molecules in vascular endothelium and leukocytes (9) (10)
  • Improvement of acute myocardial ishemia (11)

General Dosing and Instructions

For all species, size, and ages.

(a) “HOMEOPATHICS”are sold in either a clear liquid or tiny white pills or granules – both have no odour or taste)

Easy “application dosing” for all species:

  • Homeopathic DROPS (clear liquid) DRIP or APPLY 3 to 4 drops, pat into fur/skin with bottom of bottle. i.e. back of shoulder blades (not orally) which is regarded as one dose for all size species and ages. Note: Liquid homeopathics are more suited for feline, toy dog, fish, birds and other small species
  • Homeopathic PILLS (white pills) crush a pill (or whole) and add to gum/pouch of mouth to dissolve in saliva. Does not need to swallow it.
  • Homeopathic GRANULES (white grain) and a small light sprinkle or a pinch to meals, or stir into water trough or bowl.
Casual repeat dosing can add to water bowl or feed dish or water trough for wildlife or farm animals.

Refer to Bottle Label for suggested frequencies repeat dosing needed per day.
the rule is one must “repeat a dose” more frequently with less time in between each application dose, which is more important than the amount given each time. Repeat application will provide

faster action.

(b) “HERBAL MEDICINES ” (brown liquid – strong odour & tasting)
”Application dosing” for all species and sizes:
Canine, equine, cow, sheep, goat : add herbal drops (as recommended on bottle label) to some (unsweetened apple sauce or apple juice) for canines and oral syringe side of mouth. Can add other vitamins (crushed) Alkaline green powders etc. to mix.

Refer to Bottle Label for amount of drops per species size. e.g 60 drops = 1 teaspoon

What I do for example: If I was needing to give herb treatments and/or vitamin supplements to feline or toy dog or other small animals – I add this herbal formula to a small bowl add some boiled water (about a teaspoon) to it so to dissolve the alcohol in it, let cool, then add what vitamins If needed (powder or crushed tab – a pinch) mixed in another 50ml of water, and oral syringe once a day or twice a day …smear on a little “vegemite paste” (if cannot get Vegemite in your country, try fresh pate or slippery elm powder added can help mask the taste) around and on tip of oral syringe, as felines seem to real like the taste of this paste, but not too much as it is quite a strong taste)

Giving vitamins and supplements (tablets or powders) Note: always crush tablet before adding to food or liquid mix.
Felines or small animals: make up 1 cup of mixture, adding approx. a pinch of some type of Green powder (alkaline powder) or Chlorella powder (cleansing of toxins) or 1/4 Teaspoons of Slippery elm powder (to mask the taste) with 1 teaspoon of herbs if you are having to also give herbal medicines (i.e. brown liquid)
Med to large animals: add twice to three times the amount.

DOSING: Feline or small animal: using an oral syringe draw up 1ml and gently small sips. Or add a teaspoon to meals if they don’t mind eating it with meals (mix well into food) Do not put in Fridge. Room temp is best as too cold is dislike by felines.
DOSING: Canine, equine, cow, sheep, goat: try mixing well into food and hand piece before feeding main meals. Or dose same as suggested for felines, but add three times as much herbal medicines and vitamins to 1/2 cup of water or (unsweetened) apple sauce or apple juice.

What I do for example: If i was needing to give herb treatments and/or vitamin supplements to feline or toy dog or other small animals – I add this herbal formula to 1/2 cup of boiled hot water to it so to dissolve the alcohol in it, let cool, then add what vitamins If needed (powder or crushed tab – a pinch) mixed in another 50ml of water, and oral syringe once a day or twice a day …. smear on a little “vegemite paste” (if cannot get Vegemite in your country, try fresh pate or slippery elm powder added can help mask the taste) around and on tip of oral syringe, as felines seem to real like the taste of this paste, but not too much as it is quite a strong taste)

Slippery Elm Powder
If needing to add or use Slippery Elm powder

FOR CONDITIONS like …. diarrhea, stomach ulcers, or sore inflamed mouth or mouth ulcers, constipation, or IBS (i.e. colitis), plus it can also been given as a liquid meal given orally via syringe as it is highly nutritional (oral liquid feeding) for convalescing during illness when not eating solids.

CONVALESCING ..can been given as a liquid meal given orally via syringe as it is highly nutritional (oral liquid feeding) for convalescing during illness when not eating solids or not eating very well.
~ Add a small amount of powder to the mix to enough to make a runny liquid mix, if you put too much of the powder it will become thick and gluggy, if this happens you will need to add more liquid to it. Can add crushed vitamins and herbal medicines to this as well. OPTIONS: Oral dose in syringe or add to meals three times a day or more to maintain normal health again, then can stop or reduce frequencies.

My girl Ebonny was diagnosed last year with Mitral Valve Disease.

I have been using herbal Heart Tonic every day and it seems to keep her stable.
Although we restrict her activity we have seen no further decline at this stage, which is great. Found the cayenne is hard to disguise, put in some applesauce and slippery elm seems to help it go down better.

My dog “Tiffany” has enlarged heart and you sent me Heart Tonic and Organ Tonic in the past and it is working wonderfully. I have moved her on to a largely natural diet and taken her off dog biscuits and canned food. She has started to perk up. She has really been quite run down in recent years and since given her your Supa Sup vitamins and the hampl “heart tonic” it is a noticeable difference and I want to continue using your products. thank you for a great product and service.
