AN305 Canine or Feline (DVD) Degenerative Valve Disease, (MVD) Mitral Valve Dysplasia, Regurgitation (endocardiosis), Insufficiency or Incompetence, Heart Murmur, Irregular Pulse (cardiac arrhythmia) Immune support for all species and ages.
The backflow of blood caused by a malformed mitral valve is called mitral regurgitation or mitral insufficiency. The amount of regurgitation may be small or large depending on the severity of the abnormality of the mitral valve.
MVD is commonly seen in purebreed or crosses of German Shepherds, Great Danes, Bull Terriers, Cavaliers, Poodles, Boston Terrier, Dachshunds, and Mastiffs.
Dogs diagnosed with mitral valve dysplasia should not be bred. If your dog is having symptoms of mitral valve dysplasia, he should be seen by a veterinarian. If left untreated, mitral valve dysplasia can be fatal. Mitral valve dysplasia (MVD) in dogs is the congenital malformation of the heart’s mitral valve. A normal mitral valve functions as a one-way valve, which flows blood from the left atrium to the left ventricle. Deformities in the mitral valve cause it not to shut tightly, which results in the backflow of blood into the left atrium.
Symptoms of Mitral Valve Dysplasia in Dogs
Symptoms will depend on the severity of the mitral valve dysplasia.
Patients with mild mitral valve dysplasia may not show any clinical signs for months or even years.
Heart murmur found at a wellness check
Gagging Hacking cough
Lack of stamina
Congestive heart failure .. (will cause pulmonary edema, abdominal ascites, retention of fluids in the skin and collapse)
Mitral valve dysplasia is a common congenital cardiac defect in cats and Mitral valve dysplasia (MVD) is the leading cause of death in Cavalier King Charles Spaniels if not able to assist with alternative remedies. However, all breed can have an issue.
A veterinarian may (or may not) suspected heart valve symptoms, so they may do chest X-rays revealed an enlarged heart. However, we find that when a pet has been diagnosed with an enlarged heart, often the "heart valve" is missed.
Mitral valve insufficiency, is also called endocardiosis refers to irregular conditions of the mitral valve located between the two left chambers of the heart. Working properly, it keeps blood flowing from the left atrium to the left ventricle and prevents it from flowing backward.
Symptoms of Mitral Valve Dysplasia in Cat
Breathing Problems - One of the immediate effects of mitral valve dysplasia is a marked increase of fluid in the lungs. This is caused by the pressure that the 'backlog' of blood waiting to enter the heart can put on the surrounding tissues. It is common for cats suffering from the condition to exhibit shortness of breath and wheezing from an early age.
A habitual cough may also develop, as the animal will be frequently experiencing discomfort from excess fluid in the airway.
Unwillingness to Exercise - Although all cats are often characterized as lazy, one of the tell-tale symptoms of heart problems is a flat-out refusal of your pet to engage in normal levels of movement and activity. This is due to the difficulties they may be having in breathing during cardiovascular exercise paired with the uncomfortable strain that it places on their malformed heart tissues.
Fainting - Just as humans suffering from serious heart problems can be prone to blackouts, so can our pets. This is caused by the inability of the cat's heart to circulate enough oxygenated blood around the body as it is needed.
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is defined by left ventricular hypertrophy w/o causative systemic or other cardiac diseases. It is the most common form of heart disease in the cat!
Mitral Regurgitation may develop from distortion of the left ventricular cavity and from the systolic anterior motion of the mitral valve (SAM). SYMPTOMS may be seen as ... exercise intolerance, coughing, trouble breathing, increased breathing rate, collapse, or weakness.
Degenerative valve disease (DVD) of the valves between the atrium (upper chamber) and ventricle (lower chamber) of both the right and left sides of the heart. The valve on the left side is known as the mitral valve, whereas the valve on the right side is termed the tricuspid valve.
DVD is caused by acquired degeneration or thickening of the mitral valve and/or tricuspid valves that results in back flow, or regurgitation, across the valve (causes a "leaky" valve). This regurgitation causes the audible heart murmur that was detected.
Your pet may have been characterized by mild to moderate or moderate to severe mitral and moderate tricuspid valve regurgitation with secondary enlargement of both the left atrium and left ventricle.
DVD occurs as a result of genetic determinants rather than dietary factors or life style. It is the most common type of cardiac disease identified in small breed dogs and is typically diagnosed in adult or geriatric patients.
DVD is invariably progressive, and accordingly recheck echocardiograms are recommended to monitor changes in heart size and function over time. Based on findings your Vet may suggest cardiac medication drugs. Possibly a drug called Pimobendan helps the heart to pump stronger and has been shown to delay the onset of 8-15 months.
However, you can do this in conjunction or just natural heart remedies:
Set of 3 - AN022 Naturopathic Support Set

Contains homeopathic: Apis Mell 200C,10M, Laurocerasus 10M Strophanthus-heart organ -12C (palpitations, breathing issues, mitral valve regurgitation), Naja 12X, Aurum Iodatum 6C, 10M (larynx spasm, valvular disease, arteriosclerosis, chronic pericarditis), Serum Anguillae 30C,10M (hypertension, mitral insufficiency), Adonis Ver 3X, 12X, 10M (valvular insufficiency), Serum Ang 1C, 3X (mitral insufficiency, asystole with or without edema, acute nephritis), Caffeinum 10M (acute threatened heart failure, feebleness, pulmonary oedema), Apocynum Cann 200C ( symptoms of congestive heart failure, ascites, dropsy, bloated abdomen, mitral and tricuspid regurgitation, pulse slow, hydrothorax, kidney dropsy, vomiting)
* We use this remedy on the body, at times of acute symptoms, of fluid buildup in the lung, breathing issues attacks, weakness-feebleness.
Often this remedy is used initially, while formula 2 starts supporting heart valve function sufficiently and prevent acute symptoms or need for surgical valve replacement.
Times of acute of symptoms—(i.e. exercise intolerance, coughing, trouble breathing, increased breathing rate, collapse, or weakness.) Repeat a dose, every 5 minutes, until every 5 minutes, until symptoms improve, then reduce to every hour (for 3-4 hours). Continue 3-4 hourly dosing for 4 days. (Repeat acute frequency dosing every 5-minute dosing regime if needed anytime). Each pet is different and dosing can be done according to acute symptoms and when improvement is seen less frequent acute dosing repeats can be seen.

Serum Anguillae 30C (hypertension, mitral insufficiency).
* Ongoing twice a day for prevention for the need to have surgery or prevention of ever getting any acute symptoms. After a month or so of applying a dose to the body can then start to apply a dose to meals, if so desired.
daily dosing of the mineral Magnesium.
* See Magnesium Taurate capsules (use powder from capsule) - taken three times a day.
Download the Free pdf HELP SHEET.
* For example... Atrial fibrillation (also called AFib or AF) is a quivering or irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) that can lead to blood clots, stroke, heart failure and other heart-related complications - which can be corrected by taking the mineral "Magnesium Taurate powder" 3 x daily.
For all species, size, and ages.
(a) “HOMEOPATHICS”are sold in either a clear liquid or tiny white pills or granules – both have no odour or taste) Easy “application dosing” for all species:
Refer to Bottle Label for suggested frequencies repeat dosing needed per day.
NOTE: the rule is one must “repeat a dose” more frequently with less time in between each application dose, which is more important than the amount given each time. Repeat application will provide faster action.
(b) “HERBAL MEDICINES ” (brown liquid – strong odour & tasting) ”Application dosing” for all species and sizes: Canine, equine, cow, sheep, goat : add herbal drops (as recommended on bottle label) to some (unsweetened apple sauce or apple juice) for canines and oral syringe side of mouth. Can add other vitamins (crushed) Alkaline green powders etc. to mix.
Refer to Bottle Label for amount of drops per species size. e.g 60 drops = 1 teaspoon
What I do for example: If I was needing to give herb treatments and/or vitamin supplements to feline or toy dog or other small animals – I add this herbal formula to a small bowl add some boiled water (about a teaspoon) to it so to dissolve the alcohol in it, let cool, then add what vitamins If needed (powder or crushed tab – a pinch) mixed in another 50ml of water, and oral syringe once a day or twice a day …smear on a little “vegemite paste” (if cannot get Vegemite in your country, try fresh pate or slippery elm powder added can help mask the taste) around and on tip of oral syringe, as felines seem to real like the taste of this paste, but not too much as it is quite a strong taste)
(c)“NUTRITIONAL Mix ” Giving vitamins and supplements (tablets or powders) Note: always crush tablet before adding to food or liquid mix. Felines or small animals: make up 1 cup of mixture, adding approx. a pinch of some type of Green powder (alkaline powder) or Chlorella powder (cleansing of toxins) or 1/4 Teaspoons of Slippery elm powder (to mask the taste) with 1 teaspoon of herbs if you are having to also give herbal medicines (i.e. brown liquid) Med to large animals: add twice to three times the amount.
DOSING: Feline or small animal: using an oral syringe draw up 1ml and gently small sips. Or add a teaspoon to meals if they don’t mind eating it with meals (mix well into food) Do not put in Fridge. Room temp is best as too cold is dislike by felines.
DOSING: Canine, equine, cow, sheep, goat: try mixing well into food and hand piece before feeding main meals. Or dose same as suggested for felines, but add three times as much herbal medicines and vitamins to 1/2 cup of water or (unsweetened) apple sauce or apple juice.
What I do for example: If i was needing to give herb treatments and/or vitamin supplements to feline or toy dog or other small animals – I add this herbal formula to 1/2 cup of boiled hot water to it so to dissolve the alcohol in it, let cool, then add what vitamins If needed (powder or crushed tab – a pinch) mixed in another 50ml of water, and oral syringe once a day or twice a day …. smear on a little “vegemite paste” (if cannot get Vegemite in your country, try fresh pate or slippery elm powder added can help mask the taste) around and on tip of oral syringe, as felines seem to real like the taste of this paste, but not too much as it is quite a strong taste)
Slippery Elm Powder If needing to add or use Slippery Elm powder
FOR CONDITIONS like …. diarrhea, stomach ulcers, or sore inflamed mouth or mouth ulcers, constipation, or IBS (i.e. colitis), plus it can also been given as a liquid meal given orally via syringe as it is highly nutritional (oral liquid feeding) for convalescing during illness when not eating solids.
CONVALESCING ..can been given as a liquid meal given orally via syringe as it is highly nutritional (oral liquid feeding) for convalescing during illness when not eating solids or not eating very well. ~ Add a small amount of powder to the mix to enough to make a runny liquid mix, if you put too much of the powder it will become thick and gluggy, if this happens you will need to add more liquid to it. Can add crushed vitamins and herbal medicines to this as well. OPTIONS: Oral dose in syringe or add to meals three times a day or more to maintain normal health again, then can stop or reduce frequencies.

This is a fabulous remedy. I have a boy, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a severe heart murmur and Dilated Cardiomyopathy. He’s on heart meds for the last 3 years and for the last 2 years his meds have not had to increase since he’s been on this. Sadly my other CKCS has showed signs of MVD and I’ve started him on this too. I use this along with the MV Heart Health and the acute mitral valve regurgitation. It’s just fabulous I’m recommending it to everyone I know with dogs with MVD
I discontinued the medication of Vetmedin for my dog because I realized it is not good for him. Too many side effects which no VET explained before. I use HAMPL Mitral Heart Valve Health 2x daily. My dog is doing well and i am very satisfied. I ordered ACUTE Mitral Regurgitation and DuraAid for the emergency. Just to be on safe side and keep it handy.
