AN044 (30ml) Dry Hacking Cough. Canine and Feline Bordetellosis - Kennel Cough Virus or CPiV. Also use as prevention of Bordetella Virus in pets.
When our pet show symptoms of a dry hacking cough it is often diagnosed or seen as kennel cough virus or after vaccine from kennel injections side effects. If your dog is hacking away or constantly making noises that make it sound like they are choking on something, they may have a case of kennel cough, or canine infectious tracheobronchitis. Although kennel cough can sound terrible, most of the time it is not a serious condition, and most dogs will recover (even without treatment, but will be much longer to heal)
What is Kennel Cough?
Just as human colds may be caused by many different viruses, kennel cough itself can have multiple causes. One of the most common culprits is a bacterium called Bordetella bronchiseptica which is why kennel cough is often called Bordetella. Most dogs that become infected with Bordetella are infected with a virus at the same time. These viruses, which are known to make dogs more susceptible to contracting Bordetella infection, include canine adenovirus, canine distemper virus, canine herpes virus, parainfluenza virus and canine reovirus.
Dogs "catch" kennel cough when they inhale bacteria or virus particles into their respiratory tract. This tract is normally lined with a coating of mucus that traps infectious particles, but there are a number of factors that can weaken this protection and make dogs prone to kennel cough infection, which results in inflammation of the larynx (voice box) and trachea (windpipe).
These factors include:
Exposure to crowded and/or poorly ventilated conditions, such as are found in many kennels
Exposure to dust or cigarette smoke
Symptoms of Kennel Cough
The classic symptom of kennel cough is a persistent, forceful cough. It often sounds like a goose honk.
This is distinct from a cough-like sound made by some dogs, especially little ones, which is called a reverse sneeze.
Reverse sneezes can be normal in certain dogs and breeds, and usually only indicates the presence of post-nasal drip or a slight irritation of the throat.
Some dogs with kennel cough may show other symptoms of illness, including sneezing, a runny nose, or eye discharge.
If your dog has kennel cough, they probably will not lose their appetite or have a decreased energy level.
Treating and Preventing
Are you aware there are some good Homeopathic Remedies For Kennel Cough? Your dog may not have been around a kennel at all — but may have “Kennel Cough”. The term “Kennel Cough” got its name simply from the fact that it is caused by a virus that is easily spread. It was first recognized as a viral problem many decades ago when it would quickly spread through just about all dogs kept in close proximity. An excellent rundown by Dogs Naturally Magazine on their website details the symptoms and treatment of the problem:
Homeopathic Remedies For Kennel Cough
It’s that time of year again. Cold and flu season doesn’t just affect us, it affects our pets too. One common complaint that can hit your dog this winter season is kennel cough. Kennel cough is exactly what it’s called: it is a cough in your dog, much like a human cold. It is almost always self limiting and can last anywhere from a day to a couple of weeks. The virus is passed easily between dogs. Coughing in dogs can be difficult to detect if you’ve never heard it before: often, it sounds
like your dog is choking or has something in his throat. Normally, the cough is dry and short in duration. Symptoms of kennel cough are normally limited to the upper respiratory tract.
Homeopathy can be very effective for treating kennel cough.
Here are some common remedies that are in our HAMPL Dry Cough 44 homeopathic formula.
Drosera 9C: This is the primary remedy for kennel cough and should be considered for a
dry, hacking cough which may be worse when the dog is laying down.
Bryonia 30C: If the dog’s breathing appears abdominal and the cough is deeper, Bryonia
may fit the bill. The dog will appear to be in pain when he coughs and if you hold his rib
cage when he is coughing, it may relieve his symptoms and pain. The dog may prefer rest
over exercise and motion will aggravate his cough.
Phosphorus 30C: Another remedy for a dry, hacking cough that is worse in cold air.
Phosphorus may be indicated if there are small flecks of blood or blood-tinged mucous.
These dogs will appear chilly, thirsty and unusually hungry.
Spongia Tosta 6C: This remedy is good for a very dry, barking cough. It may be
accompanied by a weak heart. Warm water will generally improve the cough whereas cold
water will aggravate it.
Aconite 6C: The key to this remedy is a sudden onset and this remedy is most effective if
given when symptoms first appear. If given early, Aconite can prevent the kennel cough
entirely. These dogs may appear nervous and fearful and Aconite will help to calm them,
especially in the evening hours.
Rumex crispus 6C: This remedy is associated with an abundance of mucous accompanied
by a persistent cough that frequently changes characteristics. The symptoms will generally
be better in the evening and night and worse in cold air.
Ipecacuanha 30C: Coughing may produce reflexive vomiting. The cough is worse at
night and worse with cold air. The vomit or mucous may be blood tinged. Breathing will
be laboured and the dog may seem to be wheezing
For Treatment in acute "Kennel Cough Virus"
Apply 3 - 4 drops on the body (top of head), repeat every 5 minutes, until relaxed, normally seen after the 3rd repeat dosing. Continue repeats throughout the day for at least 4 times a day. You can't overdose, as it's not the amount given each time that is important, but rather the repeat dosing and time in-between each dosing that provides faster relief. Also, use for "whooping cough" in infant pets as well.
* Coughing can also be from a "Roundworm lung parasite".
Which the natural remedy for this parasite is also in the HAMPL Dry Cough 44 formula.
For prevention of "Kennel Cough Virus"
Stir in several drops to water bowl once a week or whilst at the boarding kennel. See Canine Certificate for protocol dosing for Immunization.
Once the condition has improved, can either stop or continue with casual dosing, can stir in a dose to the filtered water bowl, (or add to farm trough once a week) every time you change it a few times a week. Fine if other animals share water. Alternatively, add a dose to daily meals.

(a) “HOMEOPATHICS”are sold in either a clear liquid or tiny white pills or granules – both have no odour or taste) Easy “application dosing” for all species:
Refer to Bottle Label for suggested frequencies repeat dosing needed per day.
NOTE: the rule is one must “repeat a dose” more frequently with less time in between each application dose, which is more important than the amount given each time. Repeat application will provide faster action.
(b) “HERBAL MEDICINES ” (brown liquid – strong odour & tasting) ”Application dosing” for all species and sizes: Canine, equine, cow, sheep, goat : add herbal drops (as recommended on bottle label) to some (unsweetened apple sauce or apple juice) for canines and oral syringe side of mouth. Can add other vitamins (crushed) Alkaline green powders etc. to mix.
Refer to Bottle Label for amount of drops per species size. e.g 60 drops = 1 teaspoon
What I do for example: If I was needing to give herb treatments and/or vitamin supplements to feline or toy dog or other small animals – I add this herbal formula to a small bowl add some boiled water (about a teaspoon) to it so to dissolve the alcohol in it, let cool, then add what vitamins If needed (powder or crushed tab – a pinch) mixed in another 50ml of water, and oral syringe once a day or twice a day …smear on a little “vegemite paste” (if cannot get Vegemite in your country, try fresh pate or slippery elm powder added can help mask the taste) around and on tip of oral syringe, as felines seem to real like the taste of this paste, but not too much as it is quite a strong taste)
(c)“NUTRITIONAL Mix ” Giving vitamins and supplements (tablets or powders) Note: always crush tablet before adding to food or liquid mix. Felines or small animals: make up 1 cup of mixture, adding approx. a pinch of some type of Green powder (alkaline powder) or Chlorella powder (cleansing of toxins) or 1/4 Teaspoons of Slippery elm powder (to mask the taste) with 1 teaspoon of herbs if you are having to also give herbal medicines (i.e. brown liquid) Med to large animals: add twice to three times the amount.
DOSING: Feline or small animal: using an oral syringe draw up 1ml and gently small sips. Or add a teaspoon to meals if they don’t mind eating it with meals (mix well into food) Do not put in Fridge. Room temp is best as too cold is dislike by felines.
DOSING: Canine, equine, cow, sheep, goat: try mixing well into food and hand piece before feeding main meals. Or dose same as suggested for felines, but add three times as much herbal medicines and vitamins to 1/2 cup of water or (unsweetened) apple sauce or apple juice.
What I do for example: If i was needing to give herb treatments and/or vitamin supplements to feline or toy dog or other small animals – I add this herbal formula to 1/2 cup of boiled hot water to it so to dissolve the alcohol in it, let cool, then add what vitamins If needed (powder or crushed tab – a pinch) mixed in another 50ml of water, and oral syringe once a day or twice a day …. smear on a little “vegemite paste” (if cannot get Vegemite in your country, try fresh pate or slippery elm powder added can help mask the taste) around and on tip of oral syringe, as felines seem to real like the taste of this paste, but not too much as it is quite a strong taste)
Slippery Elm Powder If needing to add or use Slippery Elm powder
FOR CONDITIONS like …. diarrhea, stomach ulcers, or sore inflamed mouth or mouth ulcers, constipation, or IBS (i.e. colitis), plus it can also been given as a liquid meal given orally via syringe as it is highly nutritional (oral liquid feeding) for convalescing during illness when not eating solids.
CONVALESCING ..can been given as a liquid meal given orally via syringe as it is highly nutritional (oral liquid feeding) for convalescing during illness when not eating solids or not eating very well. ~ Add a small amount of powder to the mix to enough to make a runny liquid mix, if you put too much of the powder it will become thick and gluggy, if this happens you will need to add more liquid to it. Can add crushed vitamins and herbal medicines to this as well. OPTIONS: Oral dose in syringe or add to meals three times a day or more to maintain normal health again, then can stop or reduce frequencies.

Swear by this product
I used the Dry Cough44 for 3 days & the cough stopped I then used Trachi 189-1 for 1 week as the dog had been debarked. Problem solved
As well as using this on our boy. I also use it on my self if I get a cough gone in mins Great Product.
My boy (dog) had a bit of a cough, we had him checked out at the vet and they said that it was not kennel cough. I decided to put him on this anyway, he has a dose every day now and I feel that he is protected just in case he does come in contact with Kennel cough. We trial and come in contact with a lot of dogs every Saturday. Using this has taken the worry away from catching Kennel Cough. his cough was a chest infection and that was taken care of with Hampls Herbal Congestion. I would be lost with out Hampl Thanks.
